General Course Instructions

1. Create a new Pacific EMPRINTS user account
   
   You can use this user account to enroll in a variety of instructor-led classes, online courses, and training events.
   
   Please note that as a part of this process we are required by our funding sources to collect some basic demographic information about our trainees. Your individual information will not be released or made public in any way.
   
   
2. Enroll for Pacific EMPRINTS courses
   
   You must enroll in a course before you may take the post-test and obtain a certificate of completion for the course. To enroll for the course, you navigates to the course's information page and click the "Enroll now" button on the page.
   
   
3. Study for the courses
   
   Our courses are offered in a variety of formats ranging from PowerPoint slides with audio to podcasts.
   • Knowledge-based, problem-based, and GIS awareness & knowledge courses are availabe on EMPRINTS' website as well as on CDs. Course handouts are available for printing on the website.
   • Podcasts may be listened to on your own devices or on EMPRINTS' website. Course handouts are available for printing on the website.
   • ArcGIS emergency planning & response exercises are in tutorial format with step-by-step instructions utilizing sample data relevant to Hawaii. You need to download these materials to your own computer with ArcGIS software installed.
     
   To take a course online or get study materials for the course, please navigate to the "Enrolled courses & events" page, and click on the hyperlinked course title. Then you may "Go to online tutorials" and/or "Get printable handouts".
   
   
4. Take a post-test
   
   You have access to the post-test associated with a specific course once you finish studying the course materials online or after you submit the test access code provided at the end of the course if you study the course materials offline. Please note that , for each course, you may re-take the post-test only once. So it is important that you are well prepared each time you start the test.
   
   
5. Obtain a Certificate of Completion
   
   When you pass the post-test for a course, a Certificate of Completion is available to be printed for the course. Navigate to the "Course & event history" page and you will find all your certificates of completion there.
   
   
6. Apply CE credit hours
   
   AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™ are available for all knowledge-based and problem-based online courses including podcasts through the Center for Continuing Medical Education at the Yale School of Medicine. To apply CE credit hours, please navigate to the "Course & event history" page and click the "Apply CME Credit" button next to the course title.
